I dare you to do these three things
with your children today...

1. Make them smile.

2. Be imperfect! Show your kids that
it's OKAY to make mistakes. It's how
you respond to those mistakes that
matters.

3. Be enthusiastic. With so many
apathetic people out there - show
your kids that it's COOL to be
passionate.

3 Great Workouts You Can Do With ZERO Equipment.

A lot of people avoid exercise for a lot of reasons. Here are two of the most common...

- "I don't know what exercises to do"
- "I don't know where to start"
- "I don't know how to use the equipment in the gym"
- "Exercise and just running on the treadmill is boring"

The thing is, there are tons of exercises you could do without a single piece of equipment. In fact, there are so many great ones you could probably do a different routine every day of your life and never run out.

Here are a few routines to get you started:

- Jog for 1:30
- Sprint for 0:30

Repeat this 5 times for an awesome, intense 10 minute workout...

- Crunches for 0:30
- Pushups for 0:30
- Squats for 0:30
- Jumping jacks for 0:30

Repeat 3-5 times for a 6 to 10 minute workout.

- Sprint for 0:30
- 15 pushups
- 20 jumping jacks
- 20 lunges

Repeat 3-5 times (whatever your body can handle)

Mix and match these exercises and you already have a lot of variety. Pick new places to run and you have another source of variety too. The important thing is to just get out there and make it happen.

The hardest part of working out is showing up. Make the commitment, show up, and you'll thank yourself later.

Wish I knew earlier

Just a few thousand years ago, our
ancestors were hiding in caves,
huddled together for warmth &
protection.

Every day was a matter of life or death.

Doesn't it make sense that our society
would have some pretty deep-set
issues around fear and success?

With that said, it doesn't mean we can't
turn those issues around. It starts with
what you tell your own children, today.

Here are two things every kid needs to
hear:

1. You're fine the way you are.

You are who you are, and that's good
enough. I love you no matter what.

2. You can't control others.

Being nice to others doesn't mean they'll
be nice to you. Being respectful doesn't
mean you'll get respect.

Don't sweat it when someone's nasty
toward you. It has nothing to do with you,
or who you are.

Be kind & respectful anyway.

The Fastest Way to Get What You Want in Life.

We all have goals, dreams, things we want to accomplish. Most of us simply don’t know how to get there though. We hit our heads against the wall, wondering why our dreams aren’t coming true.

Maybe your goals are fitness-related, career-related, family-related, or something completely different. Whatever they are, I have one word of advice for you that I truly believe works - no matter what you’re after:

Get out of your comfort zone. Let me explain...

Imagine in the future there’s a version of you that has exactly what you want. Wouldn’t you agree that your future self has different habits, a different lifestyle, and a different way of going about life than you do?

Following this logic, doesn’t it make sense that to become this future person, you have to start changing those very same habits, lifestyle choices and attitudes now... in order for them to grow into your future self?

If you’re with me this far, then it becomes clear that there is only one way to make these changes: and that is to get out of your comfort zone. The habits, choices you make and attitudes you have right now are producing the results you currently have in your life.

What you think, feel, and do on a daily basis is your current comfort zone. By making even small changes to your daily regimen, you can start to grow into who you truly want to be. Do you want to be happier? When you look in the mirror, give yourself compliments. Do things that you imagine a happy person would do - even if they seem strange or scary. Smile at more people. Start warm conversations more often. Give others compliments. Do you want to lose weight? Order different foods, or go to completely different restaurants and grocery stores.

These changes will feel uncomfortable - but that’s the point. What you’re comfortable with right now produces the results you currently have in your life. To change, you have to do things that feel scary, uncomfortable and maybe even weird. But years from now, when you’ve completely changed your attitudes, habits and beliefs about who you are, and what you can accomplish - you’ll look back and thank your past self for making those changes.

Hey!

A lot of people out there present
fat-loss solutions as "magic bullets"...

They say, "Take our pill and your
weight problems will be gone!"

"Buy our exercise machine and
never deal with fat again!"

The thing is, there's only one
*true* magic bullet for fat loss.

Check it out here, in our latest

Whoa! I saw this old proverb and
was stopped dead in my tracks:

"Our first teacher is our own heart."

What a great lesson. I think if we all
listened to that beating thing in our
chests more often, we'd get more of
what we want in life.

The interesting thing is, kids seem
to have this down better than anyone
;-)

Confident

How to Become More Confident, Today
Confidence is greatly misunderstood. Most people think some are just born with it, and others aren’t. The truth is, confidence is a practice. It’s a skill. It’s a knife that, unless sharpened daily, becomes a dull blade.

In this article, we’ll go over one unexpected way that helps people become confident, fast. Here it is:

Confidence comes from the inside. But what’s inside is influenced by what’s outside. Our surroundings play a large part in how we feel. When we’re surrounded by people, places and situations that make us feel joy and strength, our confidence flows. When we’re surrounded by messes, clutter, and environments that drain us - our confidence becomes chained inside of us.

To be confident, you have to surround yourself with things that make you feel confident. That means clothes, people, music, objects, etc. Everything in your life has to remind you of who you are, and that you’re a worthy, strong person.

For example, I once met a graphic designer who was full of remarkable talent. However, she felt held back. She felt like she wasn’t as inspired or impassioned as she should be. She worked at a clunky, old, slow laptop. And she didn’t have a proper desk or workspace.

Then, she saved up, and got herself a brand new, sleek, fast computer. She got a beautiful desk, and filled it with inspiring images, books, and pieces of art. Instantly, her creativity flourished. She worked faster, harder, and more enjoyably.

She says these changes brought out her confidence. And her confidence let her brilliance flow.
Many people write off clothes, furniture, and other objects as being “materialistic”. But consider this... We’re made of material. Our bodies are completely material. Doesn’t it make sense that other material objects and surroundings would influence us?

For a writer, having a favorite pen and notebook makes all the difference. For a handyman, it’s having a toolset he can be proud of.

So ask yourself, do the objects in your life help your confidence flow? Or do they keep it chained up?

If you hate your clothes... your furniture... the mess in your kitchen... the pictures on your wall... It eats away at you. Even if money is tight, there are small changes you can start making today. Replace more and more of what you don’t like over time, and before you know it, everything in your life will inspire your confidence.

I was reading an article on Yahoo
about 5 things parents should never
say to their kids.

Every rule has its exceptions, but I
thought these had a lot of wisdom
in them:

1. "I don't care."
- As Elie Wiesel put it, "The opposite
of love is not hate, it's indifference."
2. "Act your age."
- Usually when kids are acting out,
they're having trouble themselves.
Address the issue. Don't suppress
it with a line like this.
3. "Say you're sorry!"
- Don't force your kid to apologize.
Instead, guide them to seeing why
their actions hurt someone else...
.. And guide them to apologizing
on their own.
4. "Don't you get it??"
- If you've taught your kid something,
and they still are having trouble with
it, obviously they don't get it.
Asking this just makes them feel insecure.
Instead, find out what they're having trouble
with and resolve it.
5. "I'm going to leave without you!"
- Kids need stability more than anything.
Lines like this, no matter how insignificant
they might seem, rock that stability.
Look, parenting is probably the hardest
thing on the planet! So if you slip up from
time to time, no one's going to hold it
against you.

But try to take these tips to heart. They
could really help ;-)

3 Steps to Inner Peace

1. Meditate

Now before you run for the hills, let me tell you how meditation can be really easy and fun. First off, you don’t have to sit indian-style with your fingers clasped together, and with perfect posture.

You can meditate practically anywhere, and in any way that’s comfortable to you. Lay down for five minutes. Sit back in your char and close your eyes. Heck, you can meditate while you take a walk.

Also, there are two ways to make the most of your meditation. The first is to pick a theme. For example, you can meditate about everything you’re grateful for.

The second is to simply let your mind do what it wants. Don’t try to to force thoughts in or out. Just let your mind wander. If you’re antsy, let yourself be antsy. Don’t resist anything you’re thinking / feeling. just let it be.

2. Keep a gratitude journal.

It can be a slip of paper in your pocket. It can be a leather bound notebook. It can be a piece of scrap paper on your desk. Whatever eworks for you, a gratitude journal can really change your life.

All you do is write down things you’re grateful for throughout the day. Really enjoying that cup of coffee? Write that you’re thankful for that. Enjoying the view out the window? Write that down!

You don’t have to write down “huge” things you’re grateful for. It can be the small joys of life. But thinking about them throughout the day will make you notice them more. And as you notice more, your life is filled with even more joy.

3. Throw things away!

A lot of us keep things around the house that we really ought to throw away, or give away. Sometimes we think to ourselves, “But I paid good money for that!” Or, “I’m sure I’ll use it some day!”

In truth, these objects / clothes / etc. just sit around our house, taking up space, and adding clutter.

When you clear your home / office of these objects though, things just feel better. Your mind is at ease. Clutter doesn’t just clog your space, it clogs up your mind. It drains the psyche. So be bold and brave and throw things away!

Weight Training?

The Real Scoop: Weight Training vs. Cardio
So... There's a big debate out there on weight training vs. cardio. Well, among fitness professionals it isn't really a debate. But among men and women who are trying desperate to lose fat and get in shape - there's a ton of misinformation out there to sort through.

That's why today, yes, today, we will uncover the real deal on this debate. This advice applies to both men AND women. So strap yourself in, and read on...

First: The Myths About Cardio.
  • You have to run hours a day for results, but it's really the only way to burn fat.
  • It makes you look slim and toned.
  • It's boring.
Now: The Myths About Weight Training
  • It's only for men.
  • It makes women look bulky.
  • It makes you strong, but not lean and toned.
  • It's not for fat loss.
And now for the truth...
  • Weight Training: ONLY with a super-high-calorie diet, and TONS of protein, will it get you really bulky. You also need testosterone. Simply put, most women don't have enough testosterone to bulk up.
  • Weight Training: Muscle naturally burns calories throughout the day. You get muscle through weight training. Muscle also boosts your metabolism, helping you burn fat throughout the day. Weight training = super effective for fat loss.
  • Cardio: It will only get you so far. After a while, you plateau with cardio. You have to blend in weight training with it to really see results.
  • Cardio: On its own, it's not going to get you very toned and defined. Again, you have to blend it with weight training.
  • Cardio: It's only boring if you make it boring! There are TONS of cardio exercises. Too many to count. Do a quick YouTube search and you'll be overwhelmed. If you're bored, switch it up, and keep learning new exercises. Running is not the end-all-be-all!
In conclusion...

If you've been shying away from weight training because it's scary... because you're a woman... or because you're afraid of getting "bulky"... Throw those fears out the door!

Weight training + Cardio = Fast Fat Loss. Period.

You need to do them together. They're like Yin and Yang.

Home Hitting!

I once read somewhere that
"parents are patterns."

It's so true. Everything we do,
say, feel... Our kids absorb
and make their own.

That's why one of the best
things we can do for our kids,
is resolve our past issues.

That way, those issues simply
aren't there for them to absorb.
And they won't have to live with
them.

At the same time, if we work on
building our strengths, are kids
absorb those too.

And they'll absorb the desire to
build their own.

But it all starts with us ;-)
